Option Choices
When making choices in Year 8, it is very important that you think carefully about what you would like to study, and talk to parents/guardians and teachers about what you think would be best for you. Things to consider are;
- Your ability in the subjects
- Your enjoyment of the subjects
- Your future plans for College/Apprenticeships and University
- Your future career plans
Year 8 Option Choices
Your choices for Year 9
The Hathershaw College is different to many other schools. We feel that students are ready to begin GCSE studies earlier than Year 10, providing them with longer to achieve excellent qualifications. As a result of this, we ask students in Year 8 to make GCSE choices which actually begin in Year 9.
To help you to decide what subjects will be best for you, we have put together a booklet that will explain your option choices in more detail. You can download this opposite or below.
