Welcome to Hathershaw College

Responsible, Respectful, Ready to learn

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to The Hathershaw College, part of the Pinnacle Learning Trust. I am proud of my long association with the College and to lead a school in my home town.

This is a good school with a group of very talented teachers and staff who set high standards and expectations for children. We are inclusive and celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of everyone within the College. We care about our young people, with our first priority always being to make sure they are happy and safe so that they are able to learn. -College Principal

School Closure

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 4th January 2021, the school will be closed to most students until further notice. We will continue to provide as high a quality of education as we can to students, and a Letter to Parents/Carers dated 20th January will provide you with an update on further changes we are making to remote education to support you and your child.

We will continue to provide a face-to-face education for the children of critical workers, those who are in receipt of an EHCP and those students who have a social worker. Additionally, if your child is struggling to complete their work at home as a result of a lack of access to a computer, please contact us to have a conversation about how we can support them, which may involve us inviting them into school. Mr Travis, Vice Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead can be contacted with regards to our face-to-face provision via email

The definition of a ‘critical worker’ is similar to that in last year’s enforced school closure, but if you want to check eligibility, a list of job roles can be found here.
