Aaron Phipps Visits Hathershaw

On Monday 13th November, Aaron Phipps, GB Paralympics Champion and Gold Medallist, visited Hathershaw College to talk to pupils about his career and experiences. Aaron gave a very moving talk to Year 11 about the life experiences that shaped him into the person he is today. He spoke about the challenges he has faced due to his disability, and the spontaneous decisions which led to his involvement in the Paralympics. His perseverance and resilience to achieve his goals, despite the barriers he faced due to his disability, inspired pupils. Pupils got to see Aaron's gold medal as he spoke about his career highlights as a Paralympic athlete, and his aspirations for the future. Following his talk, pupils had the opportunity to work more closely with him in smaller workshops. It was fantastic to see pupils so engaged in the talk and workshops.
