Celebrating the Return of a School Tradition: Hathershaw College’s Production of Bugsy Malone
Hathershaw College is thrilled to announce its forthcoming production of the beloved musical "Bugsy Malone," set to dazzle audiences on Wednesday 20th November, and Thursday 21st November 2024, at 7pm. The performances will take place at Oldham Sixth Form College, with an additional special matinee show for primary school students on Tuesday 19th November 2024.
This event marks a significant milestone for Hathershaw College as it revives the tradition of whole school productions, which have been absent for many years. In a nostalgic twist, it has been exactly 30 years since the school last staged "Bugsy Malone" in 1994. To commemorate this anniversary, the production programme will include photos of ex-students from the 1994 production alongside images of the current cast, illustrating the rich history and vibrant presence of Hathershaw’s performing arts. Adding to the sense of history, Phoenix Prince, who plays Blousey Brown in this year’s production, is following in the footsteps of her aunty, Miki Christi, who played the role of Tallulah in the school’s 1994 performance. This special connection adds an extra layer of excitement and pride to the production.
Tickets for the evening performances are free and can be booked online at: www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-hathershaw-college. The entire school community is eagerly anticipating this showcase, which promises to be a highlight of the academic year.
Mrs. Lott, the Drama teacher and director of the production, shared her enthusiasm: “The arts are integral to a broad and balanced education. Through productions like Bugsy Malone, students gain invaluable skills in confidence and expression. I hope this revival inspires more students to get involved in the arts in the coming years.”
Hathershaw College aims to make whole school productions an annual tradition, fostering a love for the performing arts and providing students with opportunities to shine. Join us in celebrating this exciting return to tradition and enjoy an evening of entertainment, talent, and community spirit.
