Prize Presentation Evening 2022
Hathershaw College celebrated the achievements of its students at its annual Prize Presentation Evening which took place in the Queen Elizabeth Hall. There was very much a theme of hope for the future after all of the Covid disruption and recognition of how well students have coped with this. Mark Giles, Hathershaw’s Principal, was able to relate to his own experiences of school having been educated in the town and recognising the value of hard work and commitment. Baroness Estelle Morris, a Pinnacle Learning Trust member, was the guest speaker at the event who led with a theme of joint endeavour, recognising that the success of students is a partnership involving many people, including parents and school staff.
Mr Giles said
“Despite all of the disruption of the last few years, we have only missed one of these evenings, back in 2020. It is so important to celebrate the success of students and recognise the role that teachers, support staff and parents have also played. It was great to see so many former students from the class of 2022 celebrate their success which has placed us in the top 30% of all schools for progress nationally with the second highest progress score in the town. I am incredibly proud to be Principal of this amazing school and everything it stands for.”
