Teaching Technology Tips 'n Tricks

Teaching Technology Tips 'n Tricks

On Tuesday 19th January 2016, 13 of our Year 10 and 11 Student Ambassadors took on a new project - helping community residents with their technology training requirements. Run in partnership with Village Housing Association, Eden Project and the Community Development Service, this new initiative aims to teach community members a little bit more about current technology and its uses, helping them access tools and services otherwise unavailable to them, and allowing them to gain confidence when using new gadgets.

The project will initially be run over a five-week period, but depending upon its success and popularity, could continue for longer.  Sessions are run after school every Tuesday (as school finishes at 2:00pm on this day) at 2:15pm in the Villages Community Centre on Fitton Hill, with students being available for help until 3:30pm.

Students will be discussing topics such as eMail, text messaging, social media and internet shopping, but are more than happy to focus on any topic that learners feel they need help on. At the end of session one, one participant had found a job that they could apply for online, and another had found a holiday!

If you are a member of the local community and feel you could benefit from some tech. tips then please feel free to come along.
